PROJECT:
AMAGATALL
LOCATION:
CAS CONCOS / MALLORCA / SPAIN
Fresh. Light. Modern.
Brief: Building a new four-bedroom hideaway in southeast Mallorca that combined family space, a passion for cooking and love of the sea, and on a budget.
Maren found an affordable building plot in the beautiful Mallorcan countryside, in absolute solitude and surrounded by trees. Together with local architects and builders she designed the hideaway’s entire interior and exterior.
To create a cool, comfortable space, Maren used white concrete floor, white lime plaster walls and large windows to contrast the warm Mediterranean climate. Turquoise, green and azure blue furnishings bring the nearby seaside in.
Amagatall’s highlight is the bespoke and professional stainless-steel kitchen, with its rustic sandstone feature wall.
Outside, Maren designed large garden living spaces incorporating a swimming pool with casita, and a cotton tent hangout for the client’s teenage children. As a special touch, Maren organised an affordable boat anchorage in a nearby harbour village.
“My priority was to design a smooth transition between the indoors and outdoors. The biggest challenge was placing the house between the old trees and designing a modern home that respected the nature around it and aligned with the very restrictive Mallorcan building regulations for the countryside.” (Maren Lundehn, qualified interior designer)
