Brief:  Finding a remote and affordable lakeside cabin in Europe to function as a fisherman’s retreat.

Maren found an unique and authentic Swedish torp in good condition with access to a big fishing lake, far away in the beautiful woods. Together with local builders she and her client managed to get the house renovated during the pandemic 2021. New electric wires and water pipes were installed and the kitchen and bathroom got a makeover. The bedrooms saw new beds and a freshly painted white wooden ceilings.

“The focus in this project was to keep everything simple and affordable. The location itself is so peaceful and surrounded by nature, you actually don’t need much here. Working with this simplicity brought a lot of joy and fulfilment.

My client now is able to live here in his free time, all year round. You can open the door, step outside and see elks, wild boars… and not to forget, you are able to catch lots of fresh fish.

This cabin is the epitome of slow living in harmony with nature.”
