Simple. Light. Easy.

Brief: A budget-conscious waterside location with ease of access, for a couple and their three children to relax and unplug on weekends and holidays. Maren found a lake cabin a short drive away from the clients’ home. Although the space inside had been neglected and was very dark at first, the cabin itself was private and surrounded by nature.

Together with a team of carpenters and electricians Maren transformed the cabin into a unique hideaway inspired by Danish summerhouses, complete with sauna and a playhouse for the children.

“It was an absolute joy to work on this project. Using a white theme throughout brightened up the space and the cabin’s wooden structure made it easy to extend openings. To keep costs down I replaced the old windows with original Danish windows purchased at auction. We used a lot of reclaimed materials, as well as stylish furniture from flea markets in the Netherlands.” (Maren Lundehn, qualified interior designer)
